About the Club

Hatfield College Boat Club (HCBC) was founded in 1846 and has been progressing and expanding ever since.
The club has enjoyed many successes over the years. Recently the Women's Squad has achieved considerable success under the coaching of Jamie Watson, qualifying for the Academic IVs at Women's Henley in 2013 and 2014. At Women's Eights Head of the River (WEHoRR), HCBC's Women have finished 82nd (2013), and 52nd (2014), which placed the team as the fastest University College crew outside of London. In 2015, the Women's Squad entered a Composite VIII at WEHoRR with St. John's College where the crew placed 158th, making the girls Durham's second fastest college crew.
The Mens Squad have enjoyed a very successful season under the captaincy of Alex Dent. The squad recently competed at HoRR and placed 173rd, making them Durham's 4th fastest college crew. The men's squad has expanded considerably over the past year and has 2 strong VIIIs and a IV training on a regular basis.
In recent years, several members of our squad have represented Durham College Rowing in the University's Senate VIII's at BUCS Regatta, as well as in Hatfield boats in the IV's and VIII's categories. We've also been proud to have several squad members, including Hatfield-trained rowers chosen to join Durham University Boat Club, DUBC.
Our last win at the Novice Cup was with a women's crew in the 2011/2012 season. However,

Durham College Rowing
The club is proud to be a part of Durham College Rowing (DCR), which acts as the representative for all 16 of Durham University's college boat clubs, together encompassing almost half of the North-East's rowers. Their website contains contact information for all the college boat clubs, as well as safety and coxing instructions for most of the North-East's rivers, and up-to-date information about the DCR Pennants Series that runs each year.
Team Durham
The Team Durham College Sport website may also be of interest, as it contains the College points table. The DCR Pennants Series counts towards College points, and in the 2013-2014 season Hatfield's final standing in the table was 3rd, or 2nd when converted to PPS (points per student).
